Dry season soil water potential maps of a 50 hectare tropical forest plot on Barro Colorado Island, Panama

We provide soil water content and soil water potential measurements from 15 to 100 cm depth in the 50-ha Forest Dynamics Plot on Barro Colorado Island (BCI) in Panama. Measurements were done during three periods in the regular 2015 dry season and one period in the 2016 dry season associated with an El Niño drought. We used Random Forest to predict soil water potential across the 50-ha plot and provide maps on a 5 m resolution for early, mid and late dry season conditions during a regular year and late dry season conditions during a drought year. Additionally, we provide R code that allows users to create their own maps for specific dates.
