Assembled contigs of an early-matured japonica (Geng) rice genome, Suijing18 based on PacBio long-read and Illumina paired-end deep sequencing data

Posted on 2017-12-14 - 15:46
By using PacBio SMRT technology, we produced over 25 Gb of long-read sequencing (LRS) raw data with coverage of 62X; and by using Illumina paired-end whole-genome shotgun (WGS) sequencing technology, we generated 59 Gb of short-read sequencing (SRS) data (23.6Gb from 200bp library with coverage of 59X and 35.4Gb from 800bp library with coverage of 88X). With these data, we assembled one genome and then generate a set of annotation data for an early-matured japonica (Geng) variety, Suijing18 (SJ18), which carries multiple elite traits (including durable blast resistance, good grain quality, and high yielding). These data sets can be used to test new programs for variation deep mining, aid in the discovery of new insights into genome structure, function, and evolution, and help to provide essential support to biological research in general.
