A salmon diet database for the North Pacific Ocean

Posted on 2020-09-29 - 12:52
This repository contains the initial data contribution to the North Pacific Marine Salmon Diet Database, a collaborative, open-access relational database for researchers to store and share North Pacific salmon diet data, specifically from the marine environment. This initial contribution of data mainly consists of diet information from the following time periods: 1959-1969 and 1987-1997. In addition to diet data, this repository also includes related data on salmon biological parameters, prey biological parameters, and environmental data. These data can be found in the following csv files: Diet_data, Prey_biological_data, Sources, Predator_biological_data, Environmental_data, Gear_type_prey, and Gear_type_predator. Code written in the R programming language (v3.6.1) is also included in this repository to create figures associated with the published article (Publication_figures) and to assist with preprocessing the data for future analyses (Preprocessing_data). Please see the associated publication for detailed information about how the diet data were collected (Online-Only Tables 2-8). The most up to date version of the North Pacific Marine Salmon Diet Database and associated documentation can be found in the following GitHub repository: https://github.com/mcarolinegraham/North_Pacific_Marine_Salmon_Diet_Database.
