Assessment of prospected water volume. The Monte Carlo integration provided an easy-to-implement method in order to estimate the volume of water surrounding the trajectory of southern elephant seals. However this numeric method is sensitive to the sampling effort as well as to the chosen detection radius. Here, we present the code and results of a simple experiment to quantify the uncertainty of water volume estimates with the settings used in the paper. (PDF 403 kb)
