Additional file 7: Figure S3. Vessel monitoring system of longliner fleets operating in the north-east Atlantic at 25 km grid cells. Both Portuguese and Spanish VMS data on pelagic longliners operating in the region were gathered for the period 2003–2011 and vessel GPS positions were filtered to remove all non-fishing travels. Resultant fishing operations were gridded at 0.25° cell sizes and number of positions were counted per grid cell which are coloured accordingly.
