This data record describes the data files that support the findings of the related publication: Initial Experience of Dedicated Breast PET imaging of ER+ Breast Cancers Using [F-18]fluoroestradiol.

The related study investigates the use of dbPET (dedicated breast PET), an emerging positron emission tomography (PET) technology specially designed for breast imaging, with FES (F-fluoroestradiol) to assess the ER expression and its change in response to treatment in the ER+ breast cancer subtype. The case report describes the imaging of six patients diagnosed with >90% ER+ and human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 negative (HER2-) breast cancer, their primary tumor characterization and treatment response assessment using FES-dbPET following neoadjuvant endocrine therapy.

The data files described in this metadata record include both DICOM image files supporting figures 1 and 2 of the related publication and tabular numerical data supporting table 1 of the related publication. The additional data source of the APEX medical record system is also described.

Study design summary and participant consent

Six patients with biopsy-confirmed >90% ER+/HER2- breast cancer were recruited to participate in an imaging study with dbPET (MAMMI, General Equipment and Medical Imaging SA (OncoVision), Valencia, Spain). The dbPET imaging study was a HIPPA223 compliant study protocol that was reviewed by the institutional review board and approved by the Committee of Human Research under the institution Human Research Protection Program. The use of FES for human imaging was approved by the Radioactive Drug Research Committee. A written informed consent was provided by the patient to participate.

Software needed to access data:
DICOM files can be read using image viewing software such as Horo, OsiriX or Slicer. .ax files are created using an in-house software. Upon request, these files will be exported in the DICOM format that can be read using image viewing software listed above.

Data access and terms of use:
Given that this is an ongoing research with a small sample size and we are actively accruing patients and collecting new data, this dataset is not publicly available.

This is a limited access dataset that will be available upon request. Please submit a one-page proposal to the corresponding author stating the purpose, method and anticipated results of the study. Once the access is granted, an anonymized dataset will be shared through a secured file sharing portal. Data are restricted for non-commercial use only.

Requests for data access should be directed to Dr. Jones at the University of California:
