Additional file 4: Figure S3. TUNEL assay of ATP-induced apoptosis of infected THP-1 cells. THP-1 cells were infected with the RH, ME49 or VEG strain and treated with ATP in the same way as described in Fig. 1. Data analysis and presentation were performed in the same way for the corresponding panels of Figure S1. The experiments were repeated four times. The values were analyzed using the Kruskal–Wallis H-test and Bonferroni correction (**P < 0.01).
