This dataset consists of a single Excel .xlsx file containing biochemical measurements gathered from patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus that underwent a surgical procedure at Pao Chien Hospital, Taiwan, between January 2007 and December 2016.

The dataset (diabetes-30-day-readmission-biochemical-data.xlsx) is split into two sheets according to the two groups enrolled in the study: patients re-admitted to hospital within 30 days of discharge (sheet labelled "30-day-re-admitted", n = 206) and a control group (sheet labelled "control-group", n = 610).

The dataset presented here contains the following variables measured from each patient:
SBP - Systolic blood pressure (mmHg)
DBP - Diastolic blood pressure (mmHg)
HbA1c - Glycated hemoglobin (%)
AV1 - Average blood glucose (mg/dL)
SD - Standard deviation of average blood glucose (mg/dL)
Cr - Creatinine (mg/dL)
Tchol - Total cholesterol (mg/dL)
HDL - High density lipoprotein (mg/dL)
LDL - Low density lipoprotein (mg/dL)
TG - Triglyceride (mg/dL)
LOS - Lenght of stay (days)

Average blood glucose measurements (measured during the hospital stay 4 times per day before breakfast, before lunch, before dinner and at sleep time), their standard deviation and HbA1C were recorded from electronic medical records within 1 month before and after admission. TC, HDL, LDL, TG and CR were recorded at admission and within 1 month before and after admission from medical charts.

The related study investigates the relationship between the glucose variability of type 2 diabetes patients and 30-day hospital re-admission rates. Further analyses are included in the related study.
