Growth curves of C. thermocellum DSM1313 grown on various media with 5 g/L cellobiose as the carbon source. a, cells were grown with 1 g/L cysteine hydrochloride or 2 g/L sodium sulfide as sulfur supply. b. cells were grown on GS-2 medium containing 6 g/L yeast extract or modified media with 2 to 8 g/L corn steep liquor instead. The optical density at 600 nm was monitored to determine the cell growth. Three independent experiments were performed to calculate the average values and standard errors.
